AgroTypos, one of the most established and recognized news sites in Greece’s agricultural sector, moved from Drupal 9 to Netstudio’s custom platform. The site kept its familiar design while upgrading its technology stack.
This was a demanding project. agrotypos.gr isn’t just another news website. It’s a news portal with a massive content archive, constant publishing, and high daily traffic. The new build was designed to serve both visitors and the editorial team’s fast-paced routine.
A demanding news portal
AgroTypos has been active in agricultural news since 1993, with a long-standing presence in the field. The move to the new platform had to support a large, active news archive, high traffic, and quick daily content management.
The new platform migrated over 50,000 articles, preserving the site’s journalistic legacy while boosting speed and usability.
The new agrotypos.gr easily handles increased traffic, reaching over 1,000 visitors every 30 minutes during peak periods.
From Drupal 9 to a custom platform
Drupal is powerful, but it often brings technical complexity that can slow down load times and make it harder to build truly tailored features.
For AgroTypos, the approach was clear: the site wasn’t forced to fit the CMS, the CMS was built to fit the site’s needs. With Netstudio’s custom platform, the technology was designed around the real needs of the project, the editorial team, and the audience.
The switch improved speed, search, and daily content management. It also gave the site a stronger base for SEO, with a more flexible technical setup and better control over key parts of its organic presence.
Instant search for visitors and editors
Fast access to information was a top priority for this project.
With so much content, search had to be instant. On the new site, visitors get immediate search results, helping them find what they need fast in a huge news archive.
The same goes for the admin area. Journalists, editors, and administrators also get instant search, making daily work much faster and managing large amounts of material much easier.
The collaboration experience
About the collaboration and the move to the new platform, Nikolaos Giannopoulitis, owner of AgroTypos, said:
“At AgroTypos, we’re very satisfied with the services Netstudio provides us. That’s why we continue working with them, and with the launch of their new platform, we decided to follow and leave Drupal behind. The transition was very easy and fast thanks to the team’s successful work on the project.
Our website covers agricultural news and is the first news site for farmers in Greece, created alongside the first news websites for the general public.”
For Netstudio, this project is another example of how a custom platform can provide real solutions for complex editorial projects, where handling large volumes of content, speed, and usability are key to success.
What this project confirmed for us
The AgroTypos project proved something we see as essential in every project we take on. Before you talk tech, you need to understand the client’s business.
How the medium works, its business model, how the editorial team operates, what the real day-to-day needs are, and what the audience expects from the site experience. Only when all this is clear can you design a platform that truly serves the project.
For AgroTypos, this understanding led us to a solution tailored to the organization’s real needs, not just a generic technical approach.
